I don’t know if it’s the middle-aged thing, how my bones have been popping and muscles getting easily pulled, or what, but I have been doing a lot of thinking about my health recently. As a nurse, it seems like the older I get, the younger my patients get! I remember back at my hometown hospital when things started to shift. I used to see my high school friends’ parents as patients, but then one day I started seeing my high school friends as patients. Huge wake-up call!
So, naturally I’ve started paying more attention to what I’m putting in my body. I recently mentioned on my personal Facebook that I had to stop eating like I was a teenager. And yep, I’ve given up my ole reliable Diet Coke! I am currently five days off my favorite diet soda. So y’all pray for me.
Another thing that bothered me was that I’ve recently started having aches and pains I didn’t before. I would wake up with a sore back simply from sleeping on it wrong, and y’all don’t laugh now, but my last workplace injury wasn’t from lifting patients. It was from dancing too vigorously at the nurse’s station! When I realized my sore neck came along from my head-banging to eighties tunes, I realized I had to do something. You’re only as young as you feel, right?! I wasn’t about to stop dancing, so I started physical-therapy-like strengthening and stretching exercises for my neck and back. And they’ve already helped tremendously, I’m happy to report.
Yesterday when I was thinking about my new lifestyle of healthier eating and exercise I realized I was happy I didn’t have to worry about my Calcium supplement. I know a lot of vitamin supplements contain sugar and artificial colors to make them more appealing, and as I’m trying to cut out all the bad stuff, I don’t need any of that. I actually threw away some gummy multivitamins in my medicine cabinet. I try to get everything I should from diet, but that’s super hard.
Many of my readers will remember when I shared about the new Calcium supplement I was taking (especially since I don’t usually product blog), and so many of you really enjoyed the suggestion. My friend at FitFormula who had asked me before to try out and review the product for her reached out to me again with some new products they have, and since you all enjoyed my last suggestion so much, I wanted to share what else they had.
If you missed my last blog post about it, I’ll do a quick recap now. It’s called FitFormula’s Classic Calcium + Vitamin D. As a middle-aged, Caucasian, thin-framed woman, my nurse brain told me I needed a Calcium Supplement. I just hated taking one. So when my friend suggested FitFormula I jumped at it. It wasn’t just the fact that it was the Calcium I needed, plus Vitamin D, but it was how it was supplied. It’s a flavorless powder you can add to water, any beverage, or food. I found it really was easier for me to take it this way, and I shared it with my readers and friends.
I like that their products are all natural without any added sugar, sodium, or artificial colors. There’s so many benefits to Calcium and Vitamin D for women like myself, but also for children and anyone who breathes. You can see more information for why you need Calcium on FitFormula’s website.
So, you’ve got the original, flavorless powder, (which I still love), but if you’re not a plain water drinker then you may like this new option. It’s called FitFormula’s Blueberry-Flavored Calcium + Vitamin D. Basically, it’s all the same, good Calcium and Vit D you need, but with a blueberry flavor. I tried this option too, and I liked the fact that the blueberry wasn’t overpowering, but just enough of a hint of fruity flavor that it made it taste yummy.
My friend also sent me another new product they have called FitFormula’s Blueberry-Flavored Sleep Formula. I mix mine with water and it tastes awesome. It contains melatonin, a naturally-occurring hormone in the body that promotes rest. I have taken over-the-counter Benadryl (which is found in the majority of OTC sleep aids) in the past, but trying to obtain a more natural lifestyle for my health has me really excited about this powder, rapidly-absorbing sleep aid. I got such an amazing night’s sleep after using this product, with zero sleepiness or hangover feeling the morning after. I simply felt rested. So if you’re looking for a natural sleep aid then I personally recommend this particular product.
If any of these products sound like they’re up your alley, like last time, I do have a 50% off coupon code to offer you. The code is only good for single box purchases, so it won’t work for the Buy3, Buy6, or subscription to save (which already offer discounts). But if you’re just wanting to get a single box to try then this is a great discount to have.
Here’s the link to FitFormula’s website to purchase, and if you have any trouble ordering just shoot me a message on my contact page of the blog or in the comment section if you find this posted on social media. The 50% off code you can use at checkout is gowen2, but keep in mind that my discount code is only good through 1/2/2019.
Enjoy, and I’ll keep you guys updated on my new journey to a healthier self and family. That’s right; I took the whole family off processed foods. I’m excited to see and share how this impacts the way we all feel. I’m feeling great, even without my Diet Coke. Lol. The kids haven’t tried to kill me in my sleep yet, so I think it’s going well for everyone.
