I recently found myself thinking about how good God has been to my husband and I this year. Indeed, since we decided to turn our backs from the world and focus on a relationship with Jesus, things have only looked up. Sure there’s been hiccups over the past six years or so that we’ve been striving to live for the Lord, but overall I would say I’ve seen His blessing come through over and over again.
As I pondered recently on how much our lives had changed and just how much God has blessed us with, I was in awe. God is good!
This year has seen even more positive change for our little family. A new business. A new baby on the way. And soon to come, a new home. Exciting stuff. Yet through it all I’ve tried to be in tune with God’s will, and just this morning I prayed, “I really want everything to go well with the rest of this house business.” And then I added, “But above all I trust you.”
And basically, if you’re gonna trust God, you just trust Him. You trust Him when loans fall through due to the technicality of your spouse being a “new” business owner and ineligible for placement on loan paperwork.
You trust Him when the dreams you had in your head fall apart, and fall away. You trust Him for something new. And you say, God is good.
When stuff goes bad, God is still good. When things fall apart God picks up the pieces and puts it all back together. It may have a different face than what you imagined in the beginning, but it’s still for you.
When you decide to trust Jesus, you trust Him no matter what. And you remember that God is good even when things go bad. In fact, He’s especially good then.
The moments when hope seems lost, dreams appear dashed, and bad things happen, this is when remembering God’s goodness is most needed.
I’m still blessed. Gosh, I’m incredibly blessed. My life is idyllic really. And above all, I still trust Jesus. I trust His way more than my own. I trust in closed doors and open doors. I trust in His timing and His will.
When I cannot understand injustice, I trust Jesus. When I am wronged or life is unfair, I trust Jesus. When bad things happen I look up, open my eyes through a veil of tears, and I focus my sight on God. For even when bad things happen, He is there with open arms. He is good. And He whispers that even in circumstances that seem bad to me, He can make it into something beautiful.
