I’ve been mildly absent on my blogging as of late, so I just wanted to offer a quick update to my wonderful readers.
We have been super busy as we settle affairs at home. We are preparing to launch into a new traveling lifestyle! If you missed my letter describing our journey you can find it here. In the meantime I just wanted to let you know how things are going and where we’re going.
Our first stop in our travels will be a few months in Florida, outside of Orlando. I’ve gotten a travel nurse assignment at a hospital there. We’ll be leaving very soon so the last week or so has been us setting up travel arrangements and emptying our house. Y’all, it’s hard to sell everything you own! I had no idea how exhausting it would be. I’m a semi-hoarder and I have the craziest stuff laying around. I have found:
A love letter my husband wrote me 20 years ago.
The dress I wore 32 years ago as a flower girl in my parent’s wedding.
Dollar store trinkets from my first apartment.
A hula skirt and coconut bra I bought in Hawaii 20 years ago.
I could go on and on. It’s a lot, that’s all I know.
The girls have been wonderful about letting go of their stuff. We have cut down their toys to one large tote a piece, and they haven’t minded a bit. Actually they’ve been kinda excited to pick out their favorite things, put them in a box with their name on it, and give away the rest. Their sweet attitude makes this much easier for me!
Personally I haven’t had any trouble letting things go either. This attitude shift really surprised me, and my ease with letting go of materialistic possessions lets me know this is definitely a God thing.
I think the biggest challenge I’ve faced personally is fear of the unknown and letting go of control. There is so much unknown to me with traveling full time. Everything from picking an area to where we’ll stay until we purchase our RV has been challenging. I did tons of research, but even then unexpected things popped up. I’m the kind of person who loves plans and having all my ducks in a row. That’s been impossible lately, so I am learning to let go of my own control and my own assumptions of how things should go. I’m learning to trust God more, fear less, and just rest in His truth. It’s definitely been a stretching time.
Keep us in your thoughts and prayers. Can’t wait to share our journey with you.

As Roy Rogers and Dale Evans used to sing at the end of their western series, “Happy Trails to You”! Being a photographer from back in the day when film was the norm, I still love seeing what people can do with a camera! I followed a traveling blogger photographer for a long time and they had sold all their earthly belongings and hit the road in an RV! The photographer didn’t express any belief in God though but your decision made me think of that choice this family had made! It is so much more exciting to hear of ya’ll’s travels as you are on a mission to serve a much greater purpose than taking photographs of God’s creation. It sounds like ya’ll are fulfilling God’s purpose for all of us while here in His creation which is being a light in a dark sin sick hurting world! Looking forward to what He has in store for you! Prayers for you and the family Brie!

The fact that it is so hard for you to let go of control and having all of your ducks in a row sounds just like me. I too have been praying for God to help me to trust Him more and allow Him to work in my life so that I can let go of the control factor. I am praying and believing that this will come to pass for both of us with an easy transition. God bless you in your walk with God and your willingness to let go and listen.
